How to Make It

Step 1

Choose your preferred brand of whiskey, and pour it directly into the bottom of an 8 fl oz glass or mug. Add honey and lemon juice to the glass, and stir the ingredients together with a spoon until the honey is dissolved by the alcohol. If you want to save the carbs, you can omit the honey and sweeten the drink in a later step.

Step 2

Heat water on your stovetop, in an electric kettle, or even in your microwave. Pour the hot water into your glass, and stir the ingredients again to combine them. To sweeten the drink more or to substitute the honey, use liquid stevia as a zero-carb solution.

Step 3

Serve the hot toddy immediately. Optional garnishes for the drink include slices of lemon or orange or you can even use a cinnamon stick to swirl the drink. For other warming spices, you may want to add to your hot toddy, read through the introduction which has inspiration and recommendations.
