To a bowl, add the chicken drumsticks, salt, and olive oil. Thoroughly coat the chicken pieces with olive oil and salt. Meanwhile, preheat your skillet on medium-high heat.
Place the chicken on the skillet with the skin side facing down. Cook uncovered for 10-15 minutes on each side until the chicken is slightly charred. Once the chicken is cooked through, turn the heat to medium-low.
Baste the chicken with the barbecue sauce on both sides and cook for another 10-12 minutes on medium-low. Repeat turning the chicken pieces over, basting them with the barbecue sauce until well coated. To check if the chicken is cooked, the internal temperature should read 165°F (74°C), or when a knife inserted into the middle of the thickest piece releases clear juice.
Use a clean brush to brush any leftover barbecue sauce left on the pan over the chicken and serve. Serve with your side of choice. Store any leftover barbecued chicken in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-5 days. Reheat on the grill pan or microwave before eating.
