Bone broth is a wonderful food item to add to your weekly rotation because of the host of minerals and collagen it contains. When cooked, collagen breaks down into gelatin and other beneficial amino acids like glycine and glutamine. Gelatin, abundant in bone broth, may be helpful in the digestive tract because it binds to digestive fluids and helps with the movement of food through the digestive system. Our bone broth is deliciously made with pasture-raised chicken bones, onion, celery, carrots, parsley, and sea salt. We like to use unrefined sea salt for all the minerals it provides.
Place the bones of a chicken into a large stock pot. Add the water. Next, add the carrots, which have been cut into large pieces (they do not need to be peeled). Add the chopped celery stalks, onions, parsley, and sea salt.
Simmer for up to 24-48 hours. To do so, you would simmer the broth for as long as possible. Then chill the broth overnight before simmering it for a longer amount of time the following day for a total of 24-48 hours.
Once the broth has been cooked for the total length of time, strain the broth to remove the vegetables and spices. Taste the broth adding more sea salt as desired.
