Perhaps the name is a little ambitious for how simple this Keto Halloween recipe is! This recipe consists of chewy seasoned biscuits made with almond flour, coconut flour, and flaxseed. The biscuits are shaped like little bones for Halloween festivities. Mari”nightmare” sauce is really a simple side of marinara dipping sauce! You can whip it up on your stovetop in just 5 minutes while the biscuits bake. Use this Keto Halloween recipe to add a savory snack to the table when the day is surely filled with sweets. Whether you don’t have a big sweet tooth or just need something a little more substantial, this is still a fun recipe to enjoy. How to Make It

Step 1

Combine water, olive oil, and ground flaxseed in a small dish, and leave it to the side for 5 minutes. In a large mixing bowl, sift together almond flour, coconut flour, salt, oregano, garlic powder, and baking powder. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients, and crack an egg into the well. When the flaxseed and water have congealed, pour the mixture into the well too. Mix the ingredients together until a very sticky dough forms. Transfer the dough to a sheet of plastic wrap and wrap the dough tightly. Press the dough into a flat disc so it chills faster. Leave the dough in your refrigerator to chill for 1 hour or the freezer for 20-30 minutes.

Step 2

After chilling, divide the dough into meatball-shaped portions about 2” wide. To make a biscuit bone, roll a portion of dough into a thick, 3-4” log. Make a 1” incision from the ends towards the center on both sides of the log. Gently roll the thinner cut pieces away from each other towards the center of the biscuit to create the ends of a bone. You can use your fingers to carefully shape the dough to smooth over any cracks and fill in any spaces. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the bones on the paper.

Step 3

Set the tray of biscuit bones into your freezer to chill for 10-15 minutes. Turn on an oven to preheat to 350 degrees. In a small dish, melt butter and stir in garlic powder and dried parsley flakes. Brush the seasoned butter over the chilled biscuit bones, coating all exposed sides. Bake the biscuits for 35 minutes or until done. The biscuits will have a slightly spongey texture while warm and should have golden edges all over.

Step 4

While the biscuits are baking, make the marinara dipping sauce. Combine beef broth and tomato paste in a pot on the stove, and heat until the broth is simmering. Stir the ingredients to combine them into a light tomato sauce. Season the sauce with all the remaining seasonings and adjust to taste. Let the sauce simmer until it reduces to a thickened marinara sauce. Serve the marinara sauce warm with warm or cooled biscuits.
