Finely slice the onion and grate the ginger. Add to a small pan over a high heat along with the cranberries, syrup, vinegar, olive oil, cloves, salt and pepper.

Cook the mixture for a minute or two until the cranberries begins to burst and the onion softens.
Step 3
Reduce the heat to low and simmer gently for 15 minutes, stirring often, until you have a sticky relish. Leave to cool before serving.
