How to Make It
Step 1
Make sure your cream cheese is soft before using it. Otherwise, use a fork to loosen it up in a bowl. You can also briefly microwave the cream cheese, but be careful. If the cream cheese is too warm it will squeeze out of your lox rolls!
Step 2
Next, chop the chives, capers, and red onion into very small pieces. Combine these ingredients with the lemon zest in your cream cheese bowl. Use your fork to fold over the cream cheese until you have a consistent mixture.
Step 3
Layout the slices of lox flat on a board. Cut the slices into ½-ounce pieces. Then, spread out the cream cheese mixture as pictured.
Step 4
Starting from one end of the lox, gently roll it up. Repeat until all the pieces of lox are rolled up. Enjoy chilled with extra lemon zest or as is.
