In the UK, social life revolves around pubs, restaurants, and shared meals. Keto does not require you to become a social hermit — it just requires a bit of planning and knowledge.
Dry wine (red, white, or rosé) contains 1–3g carbs per glass. Spirits (gin, vodka, whisky) with sugar-free mixers are virtually zero carbs. Beer, cider, and cocktails are generally high in carbs and best avoided. Aim for 1–2 drinks maximum.
Most pub menus include steak, grilled chicken, fish, or a burger. Order your protein with a side salad or steamed vegetables instead of chips. Ask for sauces on the side. Most pub kitchens will accommodate requests cheerfully.
You do not owe anyone an explanation of your diet. “I’m not drinking much tonight” or “I’m watching what I eat” are both socially acceptable without requiring a full keto explanation.
If unsure about menu options, eat a keto-friendly meal from our main dish collection beforehand. Arriving not hungry makes social situations much easier. Keep our keto snacks in your bag for emergencies.
Keto and British social life are entirely compatible. A little knowledge and preparation is all that separates you from enjoying every social occasion.
